Committees
We have many committees that are charged with running our affiliate:
Building
Oversees the construction activity of Habitat homes, playing the role of general contractor. Work includes coordinating building schedules and materials, obtaining permits and architectural plans and supervising work on houses. Ideal for people with home improvement or construction experience. Contact: info@habitatmba.org
Religious Community Relations
Acts as liaison between local houses of worship and the affiliate. It is responsible for fostering the growth of the volunteer base from these religious communities and creating a spirit of fellowship among the organizations surrounding the mission of Habitat. Contact: info@habitatmba.org
Family Selection
Works to find those in need of decent, affordable housing, and to develop processes and policies for selecting those in greatest need. Work involves interviewing families and reviewing applications. Contact family@habitatmba.org
Family Support
Helps new families break the poverty cycle and become independent by welcoming them into Habitat and providing them with a support system, educational opportunities and a forum for discussions regarding home ownership and Habitat policies and procedures. The committee enables the affiliate to learn from its homeowners. Contact Laura Reebe, our Family Support Committee Chairperson at family@habitatmba.org for more information.
Site Selection
Targets the areas in which the ministry of Habitat will develop and work. Ideally, this is done in an area in which property is readily available at a reasonable cost. Once an area is targeted, it is the committee's responsibility to identify and recommend to the board property for acquisition. The committee then follows through with the acquisition process. Youth United

Fund Development
Works in partnership with the board to ensure that the fiscal needs of the affiliate are met and to give the community the opportunity to participate in the ministry with cash and in-kind gifts. Contact Michelle Joy Lewis, our Fund Development Committee Chairperson at info@habitatmba.org for more information.
Public Relations
Shares the mission and message of Habitat for Humanity with local volunteers and educates the public about Habitat's work in the area. Its goal is to raise awareness and inspire more people to be involved. Ideal for those with writing or marketing skills. Contact info@habitatmba.org
